Oban Dispersal

08 November 2019

With regards to enquiries over our handling of the dispersal of the Jedderfield fold at Oban last month held under Society auspices. The sale arose from the sad death of David Cuthbertson in June this year. There was confusion between the Society and the auctioneers, who are valued business partners, about the IBR health status of the fold.

We apologise unreservedly to any buyer who has been concerned about the animals purchased. All buyers know, of course, that they must quarantine animals for 28 days in case of any transmittable diseases and have them tested. The 28 days quarantine period ends on Monday 11 November.

If procedures were not followed we need to know why. It is of vital importance to the Society that buyers have confidence at our sales and we are conducting an urgent review to understand exactly what happened and put in measures to ensure there can be no repeat.

Any further enquiries regarding this matter should be directed to our President, Gordon McConachie.
