Oban Autumn Sale 2024

The Highland Cattle Society’s 127th Annual Autumn Show and Sale is scheduled to take place at Oban on Sunday 13 October and Monday 14 October, with the show and sale commencing at 10am on both days. The judge will be Robert Wain.

Sellers

If you are a new member and/or haven’t taken your animals to the Autumn Show and Sale before, please make sure you have read and understood our Sales Regulations first.

Entries will open on 1 July and close on 18 August, and must be completed online using the Members Database:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of any page on this website.

  2. Click on ‘Cattle Database’.

  3. Enter your username and password to login, then click on ‘Sales’.

  4. You will then find the page for the 127th Annual Autumn Sale, click on the ‘pencil’ to start.

Before you can enter the animal, you must fill in the Health Declaration Form on our Downloads page.

The requirements for Health Declarations are unchanged and Health Certificates must be returned to the office by 6 September, 2024.

Young handlers

Young Handlers are the future of our Society, and the Highland Cattle Society Board of Trustees takes the Health and Safety of all our competitors, very seriously.

This is why the Society has introduced new rules and regulations, including age limits, for Society Shows and Sales.

All young handlers should fill in the entry form below and return to the office by October 4, 2024. This can either be posted into the office or you can email info@highlandcattlesociety.com.

Entries will no longer be accepted on the day of the Show.

All entries must be inline with the rules and regulations set out on the back of the form:

  1. All entrants must be between 10 – 26 years of age.

  2. Handling classes will be based on the young handler’s ability to prepare and show the animal in the show ring.

  3. The young handler must have experience in handling their animal prior to competition.

  4. All animals must be fully halter trained.

  5. If an animal is deemed to be unsafe/dangerous, it is the Judge’s decision to eliminate the animal due to health and safety.

  6. No children under the age of 10 years old are allowed to show at any Highland Cattle Society event.

  7. All competitors aged between 10 and 12 years on the day of the show are required to have a responsible adult with them in the collecting ring.

  8. Children at all Highland Cattle Society events aged between 12 and 16 years are allowed to show but must be accompanied to the event by an adult and have completed a Parental/Guardian Consent Form.

  9. All competitors must follow the commands of the Judges or Stewards.

  10. Should a dispute arise regarding a competitors age, appropriate identification may be requested.

  11. The Judge’s decision is final.
